SEO or search engine optimization is the key to getting top ranks on Google pages. It’s not all about what you do on your site anymore. Optimization is about promotion and networking as much as keywords and Meta descriptions. Even though Google dominates many searches, there are other engines including Yahoo, Bing, MSN, AOL and so on that can fetch you traffic too. All of these search engines rely on SEO activities in order to rank the different websites on the basis of keywords.
Following is the list of FIVE SEO TIPS YOU CANNOT IGNORE. If you follow these tips, you can take your website to the top of the search engines.
1. Keyword Analysis
All SEO strategies revolve around keywords. You need to make it a point to analyze the top keywords that you are targeting. The main onus on selecting the keyword should depend on the following points:
• Use a keyword that pertains to your business
• Use a keyword that has low competition
• Use a keyword that has high local and global hits
In order to find keywords that will match all the three points mentioned above, you can make use of keyword analysis tools. There are a lot of free tools that are available such as Google AdWords which can help you choose the most suitable keyword for your business.
2. Back Linking
There is no substitute to back links. However, before you start your back linking campaign, make it a point to refrain from use of low quality back links. It can hamper your website rather than helping if you don’t care who is back linking to your site. So, you need to find top sites and preferably ones that have similar content as yours. Having back links from same niche is going to give you better leads. Set out a to find your network. Once you build relationships with top notch websites in your niche, you will not only get useful back links but you can continue to work with the same sites time and again. Search engines look at not only the quantity of back links when ranking your site they also consider the quality of those links.
3. Fresh Content
Have you ever wondered what is it that compels readers to stay on your site? Search engines can bring visitors to your site, but it is your content that will force them to stay on your page. You should make it a point to deliver fresh content that are engage and captivate your audience as well as new readers you are attracting with links. You need to mix the different elements when you are creating content as they should have the right professional tone mixed with humor and maybe even a bit of frivolity. The tone should be such that it urges the reader to go on and explore the rest of your website. It will be worth it to have content that draws readers in and keeps them coming back.
4. Article Marketing
This is by far one of the strongest SEO strategies that can push your site to the top of the search engine pages. You need to have content related to your business that you can promote through the use of article directories. While your private site may have a decent amount of traffic, directories will act as good source of back links as well. Be sure to look for legitimate article directories and you will see the vast number of contributors who know that article marketing is as important as SEO and back links.
5. Social Media Presence
Social media was not an extremely important point for driving traffic to your site until the Google penguin update. The Google penguin algorithm puts immense emphasis on the type of social media marketing that your website indulges in. If you want your website in the top pages, you need to develop a global social online presence. Your focus needs to include spreading the word about your business on sites like Facebook, Twitter and even Pinterst or LinkedIn.

A lot of professional SEO companies have been tapping these methods and tips in order to climb to the top ranks. Explore each of these methods in details and then work on them. Get ready. Another big wave is coming. The SEO industry is all abuzz with news of significant Panda and Penguin updates at our feet. According to Search Engine Land, the first wash out is due this weekend with bigger ones to follow later in the year. So, we have to ask ourselves, what has Google neglected to address in previous updates that it might be targeting with this one? The idea that Google will be targeting additional link networks doesn’t seem like a big enough surprise to suggest the SEO community will be buzzing, thus we should consider Google might be targeting other questionable behavior that it has continued to allow to work.
- An improvement in paid link detection? The practice still continues so it’s safe to say it would interest Google to get better at detecting them. If a PR 1 site is acquiring a bunch of PR 6 back links, Google might consider those back links to be paid.
- The talk of Google authorship and the role it plays in allowing content to rank better may be underway.
- Google could decide to discount additional types of links such as forum links and bookmarks.
- Some speculate that branding is increasingly important and that combining the brand name with the target keywords will perform better than anchor text alone.
- Links that deliver traffic could be considered valuable and those that don’t could be considered poor quality.
- With social becoming an increasingly important factor in determining whether a page is liked by visitors or not, Google might consider content that is not socially shared to be poor quality content.
- We’ve all been speculating about what Google means about quality. A wide variety of recommendations have been made, but no one can tell you a specific formula to reach Google’s high quality threshold. That threshold may become clearer as new sites are hit which were once considered high quality sites. Is it a certain word count, formatting or number of outgoing links?
- Panda might target sites and blogs that try to cover too many unrelated topics which really belong to different niches.
The jury is still out on what’s to come, but we should expect to see a lot of chatter in the coming weeks as the new Panda update hits and SEOers speculate on possible targets for Google’s algorithm update. It’s clear that Google is engaged in a battle with Facebook for social, so it would be no surprise to learn that a website’s Google Plus presence had increased in importance. I look forward to hearing more from the SEO community and hope we don’t see too many good sites negatively impacted from the fierce storm in our path.

SEO is one of the most effective ways to get new visitors to your website as it’s free and the traffic is looking for what you have. However besides this there are other ways you can get traffic to your website to make an action that you want them to make. You never know what’s going to happen with SEO and having that backup of traffic will do you a world of good when it comes to your business.
Pay Per Click is one of the most reliable forms to generate traffic. It’s also a fantastic addition to any SEO traffic you currently have. Pay per click traffic also allows you to set a budget and track how many sales you are getting through that amount.
Also pay per click is a great tool for testing your conversion rates and helping your SEO increase even further. It will often mean that any additional traffic you generate through SEO will mean a better sales ratio in the long term. However you should always check how much you are spending on PPC. Unlike SEO, costs can often spiral out of control if they are not checked and reviewed frequently. If you have a large budget it’s often better to get someone to manage it if you are busy.
Banner advertising may have had a lot of stick recently due to the banner blindness statistics. However they can still be effective if they harbour a key call to action and are placed on relevant websites. Many people make the mistake of putting their banners on any website and hoping that they will click. Just like any form of marketing banners should be targeted towards your audience. This will increase the chances of getting traffic and ultimately getting sales.
Banners can also be cheap if you know where to look. Many websites aren’t that clued in on banner advertising. This provides many opportunities for a webmaster to gain traffic for cheaper than they normally would have to pay to acquire.
Video is growing year on year when it comes to attracting visitors. Millions of people research products online and on YouTube to get the most knowledge possible about their potential purchase. Not having a video distribution model can leave you far behind when it comes to attracting visitors.
If you own a web store on products, consider making reviews on the products and posting the video online. Not only will this give you a credible reputation, it will also enhance the trust of your target audience and make them much more likely to purchase from you. It will also have the added benefit of getting them to subscribe or to opt in for your newsletters for further marketing.
So here you have 3 of the best ways to supplement your SEO traffic. As you can see there are many effective ways to getting traffic on the web and it shouldn’t solely rely on the search engines. Having an integrated strategy will help your business grow and also prevent anything unexpected from happening.

A Long Time Ago…
Once upon a time, in the wild and wooly early days of Internet searches, some companies would instruct their content writers to come up with just about any key word or tag that would help their company get a higher rank in a search.
For instance, a company selling butter could conceivably put a bunch of keywords that had dubious relevance. Sure, they might start off with “butter”, “dairy”, and “margarine”, but soon they’re spinning off into bizarre territory with key words such as “churn”, “stick”, or even “moo”.
Along Came a Penguin and a Panda…
When you think of a stranger coming into a lawless town to clean things up, you picture some square-jawed gunslinger, not a flightless bird and a bamboo-chomping fuzzy animal, but sometimes, you can’t choose your heroes.
The Penguin and Panda are the names of Google algorithm updates designed to downgrade the search engine rankings of less relevant websites. Panda came first, then Penguin, the latter rolling out this past April.
These updates are tools designed to help put an end to the unscrupulous manipulation of search engine results, which in turn makes for a better search experiences for users. And when users have high confidence in search results, they are more receptive to visiting a company’s website. The reason is simple; they can rightly expect that the site is relevant to their needs.
New algorithms filtering out irrelevant results, combined with the proliferation of social media and an audience increasingly jaded and picky about their Web experiences, coming up with a new approach to search engine optimization has become one of the big essentials of small business management.
These days small businesses need to make sure that users not only click through to their pages, but are informed and entertained as well. Gone are the days of just throwing out a bunch of keywords and slapping some canned content on your site. Now, you need to engage potential customers with content that stimulates and captivates.
As if that isn’t enough, people are increasingly turning to smart phones for information. A business that wants to make it big in the twenty-first century needs to take new technology and media into consideration, and that means providing content that’s smart phone friendly.
It’s a Brave New World
Getting a customer visit your site isn’t sufficient anymore. Now you need to create a relationship with them, a relationship that will not only bring them back, but also bring along their friends. By using improved content, relevant keywords, and social media such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter, today’s small businesses can establish a strong Web presence and strengthen their bottom line.
Give the user an unforgettable experience, and you’ll make a customer for life. It’s adapt or perish, and the rewards are there for the taking.
