SEO in 2010 | Consider Page Speed for Google Ranking
According to Google’s Matt Cutts, page loading time can be a ranking factor in 2010. Though it may be not a major factor but it’s definitely going to hurt the ranking of the website which take unusual time to load.
There are lots of tools available on internet to identify the problems and make them run smoothly. Google has come up with a tool known as Google Page Speed. It is an open-source Firefox/Firebug Add-on. You can use it to evaluate the performance of your web pages.
Once you have installed Google Page Speed in your Firefox browser. You can analyze your page and Page Speed will come with a comprehensive list of problems along with suggestions.

I consider it great change from google ..
Google has also added a ‘Site Performance’ section in Webmaster Tools. One of my other sites was taking over 12 seconds to loads a few weeks ago!
After following some of Google’s instructions, i.e. scaling down images, as well as applying some common sense, i.e. reducing number of links to other pages, I managed to get it to down to under 3 seconds.
Still not as fast as I would like, but its a considerable improvement on what it was before.
