Google to live stream Indian Premier League (IPL) 2010 through YouTube
There is good news for all the cricket fans that YouTube will live stream all DLF IPL 2010 matches. Google India has signed an agreement with Indian Premier League and its licensing partner Global Cricket Ventures that will enable it to live stream all DLF IPL 2010 matches on a dedicated IPL channel on YouTube. According to the agreement, Google will have exclusive online rights for IPL content for two years and both Google and IPL will jointly share revenues from sponsorships and advertising on www.youtube.com/ipl and on www.iplt20.com (official website of IPL).

This is the first time Google is live streaming – a mega cricket tournament. This agreement between Google and Indian Premier League also marks a first-of-its-kind innovation in live streaming of any global cricketing event providing boundary-less access to the billions of fans across the world, except in USA where re-broadcast options will be available. Now cricket fans from all over the world will be able to enjoy all the 60 matches of DLF IPL 2010 and join the live action on-demand and share their experiences on YouTube. They will also enjoy special content, which includes match highlights, player interviews, top sixes of the match, award ceremony, pitch reports, and much more, at any time convenient to them.

Maybe if they streamed the World Cup, they could make a few million dollars from advertisements. That’d help them fix their stupid load errors and slow load speeds for the videos. Good blog post, can’t wait for the Indian Premier League.
