Google Real Time search: War is on

1 Comment »December 12th, 2009

Google has now come up with a powerful new real-time search facility that lets users gets real-time search results (from Twitter, Facebook, and other sites) right in custom result pages. Bing had already integrated real –time Twitter and Facebook results. Now both of the major players in search business have been in real-time search, war begins.

Real-Time Search” has surely been a buzzword for quite a longtime; Twitter has been major factor in this. But when we consider Google & Bing, defiantly it’s going to change the concept in many ways. Chance of Google being dominating Bing are more because of following factors.

While Google’s real-time search results are embedded in custom search results there else Bing is using a separate beta version of Twitter search known as bing.com/twitter.  Definitely this is going to prove a major factor.

Google is just going to take a little part of Tweets in real-time results, because Google directly includes the most recent updates from blogs and news services.

Google’s real-time search includes a wide range of social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, FriendFeed, etc. Bing would have to do lot of work to match the Google’s real-time search class.

One interesting factor is that Google does not come up with a real –time feature for every search like Bing. The logic behind this will be the factor that there is probability of not having much real-time relevance to a search that particular time. It makes sense.

Google being the market leader of search business, defiantly got more better search engine technology then Bing and this is really going to help Google to provide better real-time search results.

What’s the Yahoo-Bing deal means for SEO Industry ?

13 Comments »July 30th, 2009

The deal announced between Microsoft’s Bing and Yahoo! says that Yahoo! is getting out of the search business and will include Microsoft’s Bing engine into all of its services.  What’s going to change for the field of search engine optimization after this Yahoo and Bing deal ? Thus its going to make any significance changes or not. This is a big question!

Is this the start of huge changes in internet search supremacy?

The key points of the Microsoft – Yahoo Deal: From Microsoft’s press release

  • The term of the agreement is 10 years;
  • Microsoft will acquire an exclusive 10 year license to Yahoo!’s core search technologies, and Microsoft will have the ability to integrate Yahoo! search technologies into its existing Web search platforms;
  • Microsoft’s Bing will be the exclusive algorithmic search and paid search platform for Yahoo! sites. Yahoo! will continue to use its technology and data in other areas of its business such as enhancing display advertising technology;
  • Yahoo! will become the exclusive worldwide relationship sales force for both companies’ premium search advertisers. Self-serve advertising for both companies will be fulfilled by Microsoft’s AdCenter platform, and prices for all search ads will continue to be set by AdCenter’s automated auction process;
  • Each company will maintain its own separate display advertising business and sales force;
  • Yahoo! will innovate and “own” the user experience on Yahoo! properties, including the user experience for search, even though it will be powered by Microsoft technology;
  • Microsoft will compensate Yahoo! through a revenue sharing agreement on traffic generated on Yahoo!’s network of both owned and operated (O&O) and affiliate sites;

The agreement does not cover:

  • Web properties and products,
  • email, instant messaging,
  • display advertising,
  • or any other phase of the companies’ businesses.

As far as SEO goes, a lot of matter is still up in the air. If this deal goes through, what’s  going to happen to…

  • Yahoo! Directory (a fantastic link source)
  • Yahoo! link data (best free public source)
  • Yahoo! SearchMonkey & BOSS
  • Yahoo!’s paid inclusion

It may possible that all four of them go away.

How frightening is this? There are already rumors that Microsoft’s new Bing search engine will change the way we all have to approach SEO . Well its to early to say anything. According to yahoo it can take upto 2 years for full implementation of deal, so there is time. Thus, the best strategy is to get prepared to encash all the oppoutunity when the deal get live.

Check out the different aspects of the agreement on the new website estsblished :
